New Squad 1 in service

December 28, 2021 – The Rowley Fire Department’s new Squad 1 has been put in service.

This new vehicle is a 2020 Chevrolet 3500HD Crew Cab 4×4.

Squad 1 serves a wide variety of purposes for the department. Most frequently, it is used by firefighters performing daily fire prevention and inspection services. Stocked with basic medical equipment, Squad 1 is capable of quickly responding to emergencies if needed. This is especially valuable when off-road capabilities are required during incidents in difficult access areas.

Squad 1 also serves as our utility and support vehicle.  Equipped with a full towing package, it will be capable of towing support trailers, utility terrain vehicles (UTVs), and other heavy equipment. During fire incidents, it is often used to transport additional personnel and to carry supply hose from the scene.

The new Squad 1 was purchased using vehicle replacement funds from town capital budget. It is replacing a 2009 Ford F-250 which had seen heavy use.
