The Town of Rowley is seeking call firefighters to work for the Rowley Fire Department. This position is responsible for performing firefighting work including, responding to calls for emergency aid, hazardous materials and fire prevention duties. Call firefighters act as a supplement to the permanent force. Position is supervised by the Fire Chief, commanding officer or superior officer. Desired minimum qualifications include High School diploma or equivalent, valid Massachusetts Driver's license, training towards Firefighter I/II, CPR, Hazmat and first responder certifications. CORI/SORI background check required.
FY23 starting rates depending on experience and certifications are as follows:
  • Probationary Call Firefighter - Not Firefighter I/II Pro-Board Certified and no previous work experience as a firefighter - Grade B-1: $13.06 per hour.
  • Non-Certified Call Firefighter - Firefighter I/II training only (Not Firefighter I/II Pro-Board Certified), or one year of experience as a firefighter: Grade 4 $18.74 per hour.
  • Certified Call Firefighter - Firefighter I/II Pro-Board Certified and one year of experience as a firefighter. Grade 5 $20.60 per hour.
