Rowley Police and Fire Respond after Man is Struck by Tree

Police Chief Scott A. Dumas and Fire Chief James C. Broderick report that the Rowley Police and Fire Departments responded after a tree fell on a resident this morning.

Rescuers responded to a residence on Main Street at 11:18 a.m. for a report of a tree that had fallen on a man as the tree was in the process of being cut down.

The victim, an 81-year-old Rowley man was taken by medical helicopter to a Boston Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was assisting a neighbor cut down a tree on the neighbor’s property.

The incident is under investigation by the Rowley Police Department and State Police Detectives assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
